Parish Renewal Week 08

At the very heart of Lent is Renewal. Renewal of our relationship with God, renewal of our relationship with others and a renewal of the relationship with ourselves.

With this in mind, the Parish launched a Parish Renewal Week in the second week in Lent. Each day had a theme attached to it:

Monday - Reconciliation,

Tuesday - Healing,

Wednesday - Prayer and Praise,

Thursday - Family,

Friday - The International Family of God.

Each day had a morning and evening focus.  Mornings consisted of a different form of worship each day, followed by coffee and then a presentation of some aspect of spirituality or Church teaching. Each day Mass was at 12:15pm and on Friday it included the Anointing of the sick. The Evening Services followed the daily theme.


The first evening, Monday, there was a Deanery Service of Reconciliation.  Tuesday, a Eucharistic Healing Service and Wednesday, Prayer and Praise.  Thursday was a Family Service led very much by the children from Dean Gibson School.  There was also the opportunity to renew marriage vows.  Friday, the last evening, saw all the various nationalities in the Parish come together for an International Service with readings, songs and prayers in different languages.


This was followed by the breaking of the day’s fast which we had offered for all the troubled nations of the world; we had a "Jacob’s Join" – a shared table and great fellowship.
