Easter Triduum 08
Holy Thursday: The central events of this Mass of the Lord’s Supper are the washing of the feet and
the remembrance of Christ’s institution of the Eucharist. At the end of Mass the
Blessed Sacrament is removed to the Altar of Repose calling to mind the time Christ
spent in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Good Friday: At 3pm we began the solemn celebration of the Lord’s Passion. The Gospel of John
was read, prayers for the world were made and the Veneration of the Cross took
place.
Holy Saturday: The Easter Vigil is the highlight of the Triduum. We begin to celebrate Christs’s
Resurrection with the blessing of fire and light. The Paschal Candle is carried in to
the darkened church where the Service of Light takes place. After the Liturgy of the
Word and the renewal of baptismal promises, new members are received into
Communion with the Church and the Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated.
This is followed by a party!
Easter Sunday was more like Christmas Day!
